Massage Therapy is an ancient therapeutic technique considered to be one of the oldest forms of treatment known to man. Massage therapy is the manipulation of soft tissues of the body to gain a therapeutic effect. Soft tissues include muscles, skin, connective tissues, tendons, ligaments and membranes.

How Does Massage Therapy Help?
Therapeutic Massage is a unique form of treatment for coping with stress in the high powered world of today. Many of today’s health problems arise from stress. Because stress upsets the integral balance of your body’s functions, regaining this balance requires a holistic approach.

Massage Therapy not only treats those parts of you which are the problem, but also affects the whole of your metabolism through normalizing your circulatory, muscular and nervous systems and their interdependent function.

Massage Therapy is widely used to help patients obtain relief from many specific problems including:

  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Post Injury Rehabilitation
  • Whiplash
  • Back, Shoulder and Neck Pain
  • Muscle spasm/strains/sprains
  • Stress and Tension
  • Nerve Compression Syndromes
  • Tendonitis
  • Pregnancy Massage and Related Discomfort
  • Improve Circulation/Lymph Drainage
  • General Relaxation

Hot Stone Massage

Indulge in a relaxing Hot Stone Massage. Using heated basalt stones, Swedish massage techniques are used to take you to the deepest state of relaxation.

The deep penetrating heat warms your muscles, improves circulation and lymphatic flow, detoxifies and balances your body mind and soul. Hot stones have been used for many centuries by the Ancient Egyptians, Native Americans, Japanese, and Hawaiians for healing ceremonies, and cleansing the mind, body and spirit. Basalt stones are enriched with nutrients and minerals which enhance their positive energies. They have excellent heat retention, and that is why they are best used for this treatment. The Hot Stone massage is perfect for the person who is looking to enhance relaxation and balance the soul. It is also suited for people with muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage.

Reflexology is a centuries old technique used as a non-invasive healing therapy. The aim is to restore balance and wellbeing by activating the body’s own healing processes. A combination of hand and Thai stick pressure are applied to the feet. According to the Reflexology Association of Canada, “Reflexology therapies are natural therapeutic methods derived from this study based on the principle that there are reflexes in the body that map neurologically to other parts, glands, and organs of the body. Through the application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology therapy can relieve tension, improve circulation, and support the body’s efforts to function optimally”

Myofascial cupping is a unique treatment, applying cups to the tissue. The cups create a gentle suction, stimulating the circulation of blood and breaking up adhesions, in effect pulling away tension and pressure from tight, painful muscles or areas of the body. Depending on the amount of suction used and the state of the tissues, it can leave circular marks that vary from a light yellow to dark purple colour. The benefits of cupping include: passively stretching tissue and increasing range of motion, increasing nutrient-rich blood supply to an injured area and restoring movement to tight, stiff muscles, just to name a few.
