Jin Shin Jyutsu – a Physio-Philosophy

 

Literally defined, Jin Shin Jyutsu means the Art of the Creator expressed through knowing and compassionate man. Jin Shin Jyutsu is an ancient art of harmonizing the body. It brings balance to the body’s energy, which promotes optimal health and well being, and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. It is a valuable complement of conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of physical, mental and/or emotional stress.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six sites, or “safety energy locks,” along the energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of these paths becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonize the complete path of energy flow. Holding safety energy locks in combination and in different sequences can clear these pathways and restore balance to mind, body, and spirit.

Jin Shin Jyutsu can be applied as self-help (often given to clients as homework) and also by a trained practitioner. A Jin Shin Jyutsu session generally lasts about an hour. It does not involve massage (though it can be incorporated into a massage treatment) or use of any substance. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips or hands (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks on the body, to harmonize and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulates through normal daily living.
